About Livingston

Livingston is a town in Columbia County with a population of approximately 3,628 (2020 census). Founded in 1788 as one of the original towns of Columbia County, Livingston sits in the southwestern part of the county along U.S. Route 9.

The land grant for Livingston Manor was made in 1686 to Robert Livingston, and the region became a district in 1772. The town encompasses the hamlets of Bells Pond, Blue Stores, Burden, Glencoe Mills, Linlithgo, and Livingston.

Financial Strength

Livingston is proud to be one of only a few communities statewide to receive a perfect "zero percent" stress monitor score from the NY Office of the Comptroller—showing the town is in top financial shape. PILOT agreements from solar projects contribute to this fiscal health.

The Bigger Picture

Livingston's solar project is one of several in Columbia County totaling ~36 MW. These installations prove that solar can coexist with Columbia County's rural character while providing real benefits to residents and local governments.
